Back to School!

“Riiing….Riiing…Riiing!!” Monday morning the alarm clock goes off.  You know what that means!!!  It’s the first day of school!!! A new grade, new teacher, new classroom, new school supplies, new clothes, and even possibly new friends!!  The first day of school is always the most nerve-wrecking for some because of the fact that you don’t know what to expect.  You begin to wonder if anything really good or really bad will happen to you that day, or if it will just be like any other day where your goal is to survive.

The first day of school for the new freshman is always that big milestone because they are no longer being guided by their teachers or even their parents.  They no longer arrive to a school where they may know at least three or four people in every other classroom, for example; instead, they arrive to a completely new environment where they have to guide themselves and are on their own.  Believe me when I say this, the first day of school for every new freshman is by far the hardest, most nerve-wrecking day anyone could ever have.  (Especially if you’re the “new kid” like I was back when I was freshman).

However, there is a bright side to all of this.  The bright side is that the first day of school goes by a lot faster than what you expect.  Before you know it the first week of school goes by, then it’s the end of quarter, then Winter Break rolls around.  Happy New Year to all!  You go back in January looking forward to Spring Break and then before you realize, it is the end of the school year.  Seniors graduating, people planning their summer vacations, and all the new freshman that were extremely nervous the first day, will no longer be the new freshman…

That’s how fast the first day of school goes by.  My advice to you is, enjoy every moment, every second, every minute, every hour, and every day of school that you will have because you will reach a chapter in your life where you no longer experience a “first day of school.”
